Product Review: LED Dimmable Desk Lamp

Today I’d like to review the Lampat LED Dimmable Desk Lamp. The reason I’m reviewing this lamp is because it ties into my Sleep article about using dimmer lights at night before going to bed and brighter lights in the morning to help with sleep cycles. I’ve actually owned this lamp for 4 months.

There are a couple of settings for nighttime that help me to wind down. There are also settings that put me in more of a work  mood or focus during the day. So many features.. let’s get started!

The Lampat LED Desk Lamp has 4 different light setting modes:

  1. Reading (brightest)
  2. Study
  3. Relax (warm tones for winding down)
  4. Sleep

Special Features:

  • Brighten or dim up to 5 levels.
  • Natural light easy on the eyes.
  • Completely adjustable.
  • USB port to charge your phone (or whatever).
  • No glare on computer screen
  • Focused light on your desk (or table) – Creates the feeling of a separate area in the room.
  • Modern design.
  • Ability to set a 1 hour timer
  • Ability to purchase from Amazon (See prices here)
  • Space saving base

  • Product Dimensions: 18.5 x 7 x 2.5 inches
  • Touch switch for on/off and modes
  • Power – 12v corded – no batteries
  • 1 USB port
  • Wattage: 10
  • Finish: Painted, shiny
  • Colors: Black

It’s very nice to change up the type of light depending on what you’re doing and time of day. Not only type of light but how bright that mode is. This lamp is quite adjustable at the base as well as the angle of the horizontal armiture at the top. I work during the day and then like to read or watch videos at night. I can easily change up the lighting mode to warmer, dimmer light at night to help the transition for going to bed. It can change the whole feel of the room.

Also, if you don’t want to disturb others in the room with you, the light is focused downward so you aren’t disturbing those doing other activities.

The USB port is a nice bonus.

I have a small desk and this 7 x 7″ base is no problem. While it’s not a huge base, it is quite stable. The horizontal light part of the arm can move up or down and the vertical base part of the arm also adjusts forward or back.

The only con I’ve found in 4 months is the finish shows smudges and cat hair pretty easily. It’s not a huge thing but if smudges bother you, you’ll be wiping it down a lot.

I really love this lamp and would like to have one for my bedroom as well. If you’re looking for a desk lamp that is easy on your eyes and adjusts to the type of light for what you’re doing and when, then you might want to consider this lamp.

My rating: 9.8 of 10

I hope you found this helpful in your quest to find custom situational lighting.

Please feel free to leave your reviews or experience and any comments and questions. I would be happy to know what you think! Thank you!

  1. Hello Paula this is a very helpful review of this lamp! Thank you for linking to your article about sleeping. I work on the computer often so before bed I am on the computer a lot. I also am working on my sleep patterns which have been horrible. So everything that I can pull together for better sleep is super!

Work wise lighting is sooo important. Because my eyes are getting bad. This is a very nice Lamp. It is definitely time to upgrade my lighting. I love the price as well! Thanks for the review!

    • Ah. Glad it helped. Yes, I used to be kept up by working on the computer using bright, ‘daytime’ light before bed. Thank you for your input. 🙂

  2. Thank you for this well thought out review.  This compact unit is so versatile!

One thing that the manufacturers probably don’t even realize is that your desk plants will also do well under it (by the description given).

I too have difficulties with sleep due to light, especially in the summer when there is too much.  I used to live in Canada’s far north with 24 hour light and 24 hour dark at some points of the year.  This light would help ease Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder in those who suffer from it.  It is also quite inexpensive.

Thank you, Paula, for this thoughtful and thorough review!
